HORTON PLAZA (a mall across from the Westgate Hotel)
horton plaza
Covering 15 city blocks, Horton Plaza is at the heart of downtown San Diego's shopping and entertainment district. The neighborhood's best-known attraction is the Horton Plaza shopping center, a five-story, colorful open-air mall anchored by Nordstrom, Macy's and Mervyns. The mall is also home to nearly 150 specialty shops, some restaurants, a movie theater and the Lyceum Theatre, which hosts stage productions.

Horton Plaza shopping center is bounded by Broadway on the north, G Street on the south, First Avenue on the west and Fourth Avenue on the east. There's ample parking in the mall's large garage, but at $4 an hour, it can get pricey. (You can get three hours free with a purchase, or four hours free with validation from a theater or restaurant. Buying a candy bar at Long's Drugs in Horton Plaza, by the way, counts as a purchase.) There are two entrances to the parking garage on Fourth Avenue and one on G Street.
